What's love got to do with it?
Well.... EVERYTHING.
Let me begin with a true story.
As I watched: her physical frame would not make you want to listen, but she spoke with authority and power when she declared these words on national television:
"For I will restore you to health and
I will heal you of your wounds, declares the LORD, 'Because they have called you an outcast, saying: "It is Zion; no one cares for her."
"Thus says the LORD: 'Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob And have compassion on his dwelling places....
From them will proceed thanksgiving
And the voice of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not be diminished; I will also honor them and they will not be insignificant. "
“'Their children also will be as formerly, And their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all their oppressors.”
Jeremiah 30:17-20
As she finished speaking it was hard for me not to shake my head in utter amazement because this was the daughter of a well known evangelist, who in the past, had fallen from grace.
Anyone who knows her story would be encouraged because many years ago the picture was not so beautiful....
It was one of a family pulled apart and shredded to pieces by personal scandal; with children lost in the fray, a reputation and ministry lost.
A marriage broken beyond repair and a father in prison.
The End.
...And so the enemy would like you to think
BUT
On the other side ... After the storm,
Came God’s redemption.
And It looked like this:
A father out of prison- check
A ministry restored - check
A new marriage - check
A daughter finding her voice- check
A son finding his faith in God again-check
A family reunited and serving God- check
The Purpose?
A testimony for the world to see that we serve a God of unrelenting pursuit for His lost sheep.
Just as the parable of the good shepherd who leaves the 99 behind to go after the one lost sheep.
And: the story of the Prodigal father running to the lost son while he is still afar off.
THIS is the God we serve.
“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.”
Revelation 12:11 NASB
