Is it a test?
As I listen to the song “When You Believe” from the movie Prince of Egypt, it tells me:
"There can be miracles when you believe....
though hope is frail it’s hard to kill...
who knows what miracle you can achieve when you believe somehow you will..."
We are now between Passover and Pentecost, and I recently heard a powerful message from a friend about this transition period as a test.
I was reminded that during this same time in biblical history Jesus’s disciples were in disarray as they were trying to come to terms with what had just happened to their saviour, teacher, friend and Messiah. What did He tell them to do but to wait in Jerusalem until Pentecost.
And during this same season we remember the Israelites deliverance from the plague and from slaves to free men. Transitioning from slave mentality to a freedom mentally and yet God had sent them off with all of their captor’s gold.
At this time, many voices are clamouring for my attention...
But I keep hearing a steady whisper and it says:
“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”
Habakkuk 1:5 NIV
I pause and consider these words...my thoughts race
“Can it be Lord...”
My flesh battles within me and wants to believe the evil reports.
Can I trust His words of truth, hope and comfort for a future for us all?
Deep in my soul, my resounding answer is:
Yes
